I've left fairly_dinkum's name in this repost, because this individual is sharp, worth reading, and I quote and take credit for them often. http://forums.ebay.com/db2/thread.jspa?messageID=1008606671&forumID=21&x#1008606671 Cross-Promoted items within listings |

The cross-promoted items within my listings are not coming from the same category as the listing. Didn't those items come from the same categories, once upon a time, or have I lost another brain cell? It seems to me that the cross-promoted items were even pulled from a custom store category, if the listing was within that custom category. Now, those items aren't even being pulled from the same ebay category, or sub-category. I've had to go into the Default Cross-Promotion area and create Rules for what should be the simplest in choices of what to include. I've now created 19 rules, most of them for simple cross-references, but still find something odd every day or so. At times, none of the cross-promoted items had anything to do with the category of the listings. It was almost like the EE "relevant item" display is at work. If you're familar with that function (that's not the word I want to use), then I need to say no more. I emailed storesteam last week about this. I was hoping for an answer, and a fix by now, but neither has happened. Maybe everyone should go check to see just what is being promoted within your listings. And remember to play the Relevant Game...it's Free, Fun and most of all, it's Confusing. |

I posted about this last week, mine were doing the same thing. I ended going in and manually doing most of them. What a pain |

dha**, Thanks for the reply. I looked up your post and see that I'm not the only one. At least I know all 8 brain cells are still here! Those totally unrelated items have the mark of EE's relevant search all over them. That's prolly Step #1 in the merger of the Magellan search system to the ebay Core. Instead of Magellan (Meg?ellan), I'd suggest the title of Columbus search. With IT, you end up nowhere near what was desired, while the captain adamantly insists that IT is what you wanted. |

True. > Instead of Magellan (Meg?ellan), I'd suggest the title of Columbus search. > With IT, you end up nowhere near what was desired, while the captain adamantly insists that IT is what you wanted. Magellan is an appropriate name for the eBay Express search. Remember Ferdinand Magellan did NOT circumnavigate the Earth. He DIED before the mission completed. "Of the 270 crew members who set out with Magellan to circumnavigate the globe, only 18 managed to return to Spain and thereby complete the circumnavigation. The were led by Spanish Juan Sebastian Elcano, who took over command of the expedition after Magellan's death." eBay Express search 'dies' and searchers are lucky to get 18 out of 270 existing items. Magellan is a good name for eBay Express Smart Search. |

Express might be a good way to test keywords before you list an item. They are showing stuff a large number of people are lookinng for. So test your keywords on eXpress before you list. |
