I sold a new item a coupld of weeks ago and today I get a email from the buyer saying the item was filthy and broken so I replied saying that I would give refund ,but they had to send item back to me. No prob. Well they replied saying that they wanted the refund plus extra shipping to ship it back to me BEFORE they sent the item . I replied that I could not do that - they had to send it back to me first and I would refund. Well just now i got an irate email from them ( they stopped using ebay message) saying that I was selling misrepresented items and that they were going to contact my local authorities ( have in mind item item was 18.00) and that I was to give them a refund now. How do I report them to ebay??

That's not a threat, and there's nothing to report to ebay.

Tell the buyer to go ahead and contact your local authorities. Hahaha..... that is just so ridiculous.
If the buyer wanted to scare you, at least find a better threat than that.
Don't worry about it. The buyer is an idiot. The most he will do is probably give you a negative.

Well i took it as a threat .
here is email--
I will be refunded for the price of the item, and the shipping, and the shipping back as this was not my fault
you are selling miss repersented items . Im just not the average ebayer that has to settle for less, you back what you have done or i can contact the proper authority in your area for the problems and i rather not go that way

So send him another email through ebay stating that you will refund his money as soon as you receive the item, and leave it at that. Don't respond to his other comments.
Is there any possibility that the item you sold was in fact damaged? Did you take it out and examine it before you sent it? Have you checked the buyer's other recent items won to see if he won another one?

Well, you already offered the buyer a refund. Of course the buyer needs to ship the item back to you first.
Most sellers need the buyer to be returned before they issue refunds. That's how it works.
I wouldn't take this clown too seriously. I've been selling on ebay for a while and have received many ridiculous emails similar to yours. They mainly do that to let off some anger. If he really does go to the police about this, the officer would probably just laugh in his face! It is truly ridiculous!

Sounds like buyer is attempting to pull a switcheroo or has buyer's remorse.

You could also ask for pictures of the 'alleged' damage.
BUT I will still insist on the item back prior to refund.
***gasp ~ a ladybug in the package?***
It's not like it was a rat, mouse, black widow spider, cockroach etc. A widdle itty bitty ladybug.

Hmmmmm, ignore the threats.
Offer politely to send the buyer a PREPAID shipping label, or even to have UPS pick it up.

Hey, Tell her you are not the average ebayer & then use the old ebay line.." I am an attorney so if you continue to threaten me I will see you in court" ha ha!

Yes it could have been phrased better but a customer service oriented seller should refund return shipping if an item is not as described. It worked when it left your possession, but things break in transit. Did you purchase insurance?
I would ask for photos. If it is indeed broken just refund (if no insurance). There is no need to pay for the return of a useless item.
Since we haven't seen the email sent by you, I hesitate to even come close to calling that a threat.
Despite appearances, I'm a chica.
