Hi, it's me, Bill. I wanted to stop by to say hello. I've learned a lot about myself in the last few days: 1.) I look like Dick Van Patten. 2.) I have lots of new nicknames, e.g. Mr. Bill. 3.) I've learned more about what's on your mind. We're working hard to address your general comments as well as some of your specific requests.
For those who are wondering -- I've gotten more than 17,000 emails. I want to thank you for your interest and your passion about eBay. While I can't respond personally to 17,000 emails, many of you will be getting a response from a member of my team, with direction from me. And as I promised, I'm seeing them all.

Well said, Gatorpack. I apologize if anyone used the term "slight" to describe the fee increases or if anyone comes off as adversarial. As I repeatedly say in my all-hands meetings, eBay exists -- and can only continue to exist -- if we enable our Community to be successful.

North -- thank you for your heartfelt words. I've received a few other emails like yours. While I probably can't satisfy your request here, I want you to know that I value your trust, and despite what you may think, we're working hard to keep it.
I am reviewing what eBay gives its sellers for their money -- Stores and non-Stores sellers alike. While I don't have anything to announce tonight, stay tuned.

Beavinsons -- my leg does have a few scars on it ... but I felt the fee decrease for the lowest tranche was important because this is the tranche that drives the highest bidding per listing and has the highest conversion rate of any tranche. I also saw how effective this was in Germany for the sellers there, and I really wanted to bring this to the U.S.

Katiyana -- thank you for recognizing the dedication of our Stores team. As you might imagine, they've been getting an earful lately and have remained committed to helping our sellers.

All -- thanks for sharing your thoughts with me and giving me the opportunity to spend some time with you. Unfortunately I'm out of time, but I'll try to do this periodically. The fact that you're here really shows that you care, and I want you to know that I recognize and respect that. I'm just getting started in my new role, and I look forward to spending more time with all of you.

chunky:
I agree with your interpretation, and I thank you for trying to make it clear because I think many here don't realize that the reduction for the under 99 cent market wasn't aimed at people selling inexpensive goods for 99 cents. It's aimed at people selling more expensive goods that they start at 99 cents because they are confident the price will rise considerably.
That's long been a favorite tactic of some ebay sellers, because starting a really good item at a low price generates a lot of interest from buyers.
Of course, it doesn't work for every higher priced item. Sellers have to know their market to know whether the tactic will be effective with their merchandise.
I think what eBay is hoping is that more sellers will experiment with it to see if it will or will not increase their sell through rate and ending prices. I suspect
there are indeed quite a few sellers who would benefit from it who do not currently use it.

Finally got my response:
Thank you for your email to Bill Cobb. He has requested that I respond
on his behalf.
I can definitely understand your frustration over the new fee increase and the other issues that you have experienced. Be assured that the new upcoming changes will allow us to provide our members with an even more
valuable marketplace and help them become more successful in the future.
At this time, I have also passed this information you brought up concerning fees and listing issues.
Thank you for being a valuable member of the eBay community.
Sincerely,
Crystal G. K.

Here's my response receive on 2/08....
Thank you for writing in Lavila. Due to the overwhelming response regarding Bill's announcement, he has requested that I respond on his behalf.
Lavila thank you for your feedback. At the moment the gallery picture fee is 25 cents. We have discussed this with many sellers such as yourself and they would rather pay this amount so we can afford to provide them with the best service possible. Due to the large volume of
pictures and auctions that go up on our site each day, it does require a lot of maintenance and storage. The gallery fee is currently at this amount because we believe that enables us to provide you with better
services and features on our site. I have taken your suggestion with the sincerest passion and it is something that we will definitely consider in the future.
I would also like to take this time to congratulate you on your excellent feedback score. It is sellers such as yourself that represent what eBay is all about.
With warmest regards,
Jayson B.

I wanted to follow-up on my post ( Feb-08-05 18:20 PST 41 of 135) to Mr. Cobb earlier this week.
I had emailed Mr. Cobb on Feb. 7th -- basically the same thing I posted here.
This is the email I received from a member of his team today. And, IMO, an insult to not only me, but to all sellers. Just another "form" email that probably went out to all 17000 of those concerned sellers that emailed him.
Hello Jan,
Thank you for your e-mail to Bill Cobb. Bill has requested that I respond on his behalf and I'm happy to do so.
I can certainly understand your concern regarding fee increases on the site. I would like to assure you that we do take the needs of our community into consideration prior to making any change to our site or increasing fees.
Again, thank you for your e-mail, concerns and suggestions. We take all input from our members seriously. I can assure you that your concerns
and suggestions will be reviewed and taken into consideration. Your involvement and participation are invaluable to to our eBay community.

"William C. Cobb, who oversees the company's North American operations, called the "constant drone" of complaints on the company's message boards"
Yeah, I would not care if I had already cashed out $16,000,000.00+ of stock. If you and Meg believe in the company, why don't you hold on to the shares?
