The spirit of the rules in the Board Usage Policy is to create an atmosphere where all members can participate. The Board Usage Policy provides examples and guidelines for adhering to the Community Values, but each participant in the Forums should consider how their activity may impacts others. Being a part of a community is about balancing personal preferences with consideration for the community as a whole.
Finding alternative ways to be disrespectful or otherwise violate policy goes against the spirit of these rules and the Community Values. Participating in an online community (similar to any type of community) should not necessitate having every possible prohibited activity listed specifically. That something can be done does not necessarily mean that it should be done.
The following are some examples of circumvention that are prohibited:
# The use of euphemisms to avoid detection. A euphemism is “the substitution of a more mild, indirect, or vague expression”. If something can’t be said openly with the policy guidelines, using a euphemism does not make it acceptable.
# Manipulating text (including the omission of certain characters, adding spaces, etc.) – If you can’t post a word or URL as is, then disguising or otherwise manipulating text is not acceptable either
# Deliberately using multiple accounts to violate policies in order to avoid a sanction
# Using alternative accounts (regardless of who registered the account) to post during a sanction
Circumventing a temporary sanction may result in the indefinite sanction of related accounts. Continued circumvention may cause the full suspension of all related accounts.
