The eBay PayPal Discussion Board and PayPal Damon Billian

It's probably due to an associate who's a retired newspaper editor that gives us the once over from time to time, {run-on sentence) reminding us to get at least two sources (we do), check grammer (not always), {run-on sentence to be irritating), because over the years various individuals have forwarded informational tips to us.
At this point you're wondering what point are we trying to make?
> Sound of teeth grinding to roots. <
On eBay's discussion boards, eBay tends to "archive" threads that may put eBay and it's companies in a bad public relations light. Or give away what eBay might consider too much detail on something considered sensitive.
The thread started on 3 January 2010 at 11:28 PST, and ran uneventfully for two days. Then post 219 provided a link to the 2008 AuctionBytes article 'PayPal Damon' Weighs in on the New eBay. That article starts, "In the early days of ecommerce, Damon Billian was known as "PayPal Damon." The January 5th post 239 chimed in with Damon Billian's public LinkedInentry.
As we noted earlier, this is (at least 2005) old news. However as this takes place on an eBay discussion forum, the soap 'As the PayPal Turns' would continue.
The Damon train continued for two days. Until post 254 on 7 January 2010 12:51 PST. After which eBay archived the thread; "This topic
has been archived - replies are not allowed."
It appears eBay tolerated the first two days and about 218 posts. But wouldn't tolerate the last 36 posts over two days. That's either being over sensative or very protective about 5 Year Old Public News.

One oldie but goodie tip mentioned "PayPal Damon" being Damon Billian. That was non-public news then, but old news today as you can find Damon mentioned by name in the 2005 AuctionBytes article, PayPal Damon Resurfaces at Simply Hired Job-Search Engine.
At this point you're wondering what point are we trying to make?

On eBay's discussion boards, eBay tends to "archive" threads that may put eBay and it's companies in a bad public relations light. Or give away what eBay might consider too much detail on something considered sensitive.
One example is the PayPal forum thread Spread Awareness.
The thread started on 3 January 2010 at 11:28 PST, and ran uneventfully for two days. Then post 219 provided a link to the 2008 AuctionBytes article 'PayPal Damon' Weighs in on the New eBay. That article starts, "In the early days of ecommerce, Damon Billian was known as "PayPal Damon." The January 5th post 239 chimed in with Damon Billian's public LinkedIn entry.

There was indignation expressed; "What is your point with posting that link?" But Sandra displayed her usual kompetenz in post 243 by stating the obvious in her last post on the thread, "Trying to find "the" PayPal Damon is quite simple enough though some appear to have difficulty with that search."
The Damon train continued for two days. Until post 254 on 7 January 2010 12:51 PST. After which eBay archived the thread; "This topic has been archived - replies are not allowed."

Well, at least it's an improvement over a thread being deleted and poster NARU'd.
> Sound of being gummed to death <
There were old facts, and buried new tips in the article. However you're still wondering, exactly what was the point of this fluff piece?
